The 2019 annual Northern Blair County Kiwanis Club Coat Drive has commenced.

Large containers for the collection of coats, hats and gloves have been placed at Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller’s office in Tyrone, the Northern Blair Recreation Center in Tipton, and the Martin Oil main office in Bellwood. Martin Oil and the Northern Blair District Court are open during normal daylight business hours during the week. The Rec Center is open during the weekdays, evenings and weekends.

DelGrosso Foods, as they have done on a yearly basis, graciously donated large containers to assist in the collection.

The annual Coat Drive will culminate with the Reliance Bank Holiday Tournament to be held at the Tyrone Area Senior High School gym on December 27 and 28 with games at 2:30, 4, 5:30 and 7 p.m. Championship and Consolation games will be held on Saturday, December 29 starting at 2:30 p.m.

The annual coat drive is a community project that the Northern Blair Kiwanis Club has provided for the past 20-plus years. In conjunction with the community, the coat drive has provided thousands of coats, gloves, and hats to families of northern Blair County. As always, there is a special need for toddler, children, and youth size clothing.

The drive is expected to conclude near the end of the month.
