The Bellwood-Antis Areas School District Board of Directors met in session on Tuesday evening in the Myers Elementary School LGI room. The purpose of this session was to conduct the annual reorganizational meeting of the school board of directors and the second part was to conduct the monthly business associated with the school district.
During the reorganizational section of the meeting the offices of president and vice president were filled. The office of president will be again served by Robert Fisher. The office of vice president will be filled once again by Jeff Nycum.
At this time Fisher indicated that rather than set all committee chairpersons and committee members for the upcoming school year, he asked that anyone who would like to request another committee to chair or to sit upon to please contact him prior to the January, 2019, school board meeting. Otherwise, Fisher will continue with the appointment of the same committee chairpersons and the same committee members.
The reorganizational meeting was then adjourned and the school board members went into the regular portion of the school board meeting.
There were three significant actions that were taken as part of the finance committee report. The first was to approve a three-year printer contract with Amcor that was presented at a lower rate the previously used contract. The current monthly rate had been $1,585.22 and the newly approved rate would be $1,350. This was approved. The second item discussed for action was to approve one-to-one software iPad management software. This will be paid from the iPad insurance account. The first year cost will be $6,915 which does include setup and training. Subsequent costs per year will be $4,625. Approval was granted. The final approval was for committing funds as approved by the Board Resolution approved at the June 14, 2016 meeting for future replacement expenditures in the amount of $252,531 (year four). Approval granted.
Under personnel action the school board members granted for FMLA leave for the elementary librarian aide, Sandy Dunn, to begin on November 20, and continue approximately through February 5, 2019, approximately 12 weeks.
There were three volunteers that were then approved for the 2018-2019 school year with their positions listed. Beth Decker, elementary girls basketball, Jason Wallace, elementary wrestling and Kylie Plummer, elementary girls basketball.
In final action the school board members then approved the meeting dates for the board committee meetings and the regular monthly board meetings for 2019. The board committee meetings will be held the first Tuesday of each month beginning January 8, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the Myers Elementary School LGI room. The regular scheduled monthly school board meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month beginning on January 15, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the Myers Elementary School LGI room.
These meeting dates and times will remain through 2019 unless noted otherwise.
