With a bipartisan vote of 121 to 81, on Monday evening HR 836 and SR 323 were passed to end the emergency disaster declaration made by Gov. Tom Wolf ordering residents to stay at home and businesses to follow guidelines, and to reopen Pennsylvania.

“Freedom is reclaimed for the people of Pennsylvania!” Said Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-12th). “Wolf’s dictates are being terminated by the people’s voice through the legislature.”

Sen. Judy Ward (R-30th) on Monday took the floor and spoke on behalf of constituents in support of the resolution to immediately terminate the emergency disaster declaration.

“It is time to stop the unchecked emergency powers of the governor,” she said.

Rep. Jim Gregory (R-80th) explained that under the state constitution, the General Assembly has authority to terminate a state of disaster emergency at any time by concurrent resolution. With adoption of the resolution, the governor must issue an executive order or proclamation ending the state of disaster emergency.
