Each month, The Daily Herald has requested COVID-19 data from local hospitals to give a clear picture of cases in the immediate area. Positive numbers are rising across the state, but severity of cases is not typically reported.

This month, Tyrone Regional again reports zero COVID-19 inpatients over the past week. Tyrone Regional CEO Anna Anna said that there have also been no COVID-19 outpatients this week at the local facility.

At Mount Nittany in State College however, hospitalization numbers have risen slightly since last month’s report of two inpatients. As of Friday, there were 10 positive inpatients at Mt. Nittany. Over the past week, the facility reports that there has been an average of 10-13 COVID positive inpatients. The facility has over 40 ventilators available.

The UPMC Altoona region, which encompasses facilities in Altoona, Bedford, Somerset and Western Maryland, also reports an increase in COVID-19 inpatients this month over last, with 28 in those facilities as of Friday and of those, six on ventilators.

No data was available from Penn Highlands in Huntingdon at the time of publication.
