Fire response

Sinking Valley Volunteer Fire Company worked Sunday morning to battle a house fire in Tyrone Township. Homeowners said the firefighters’ quick response helped save part of their home.

Sinking Valley Volunteer Fire Company and other area crews responded to a dwelling fire at Crawford Road and Otto Road in Tyrone Township on Sunday morning around 9:30 a.m.

Occupants of the home were uninjured, but the family did lose three household pets.

The homeowner was grateful that responders arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze before it took the entire house. The family also appreciates the outreach they have received from family, friends, and neighbors.

A family friend said they lost at least three rooms from the fire and the rest of the structure has smoke damage. The family said items can be replaced and the home will be repaired, but the hardest loss is their beloved pets.
