‘Tis the season for music! The high school bands have been working hard for several months to prepare for this busy time of year with many concerts and performances scheduled.

The Golden Eagle Marching Band began their season at the end of July with band camp and worked hard this year. Each year, the band puts in a lot of hours to learn music and drill and improve week by week for competitions. The marching band finished in the top 10 of more than 25 bands at the Atlantic Coast Championships at the end of October. New this year was the addition of the majorettes to the marching band led by instructor Marcia Fink. Some of these new students performed for competitions and others just for the football games.

The high school jazz band and concert band have been practicing since the beginning of the school year for the holiday season of performances. The performance season kicks off with the fall concert on Thursday, November 21. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and features all the bands at Tyrone including fifth grade through eighth grade and the high school bands.

Tyrone Jazz Band will host its second annual Christmas concert on Monday, December 16. This concert features the Tyrone Area Jazz Ensemble, as well as several select small ensembles. This concert is a celebration of the holiday season and is being held in the Tyrone High School cafeteria with cookies, drinks and decorations.

The high school jazz band will continue with several special performances in the community as well as the for the entire school on the last two days before the holiday break. The students enjoy performing for their fellow students as well as the community in all of their concerts and performances. We hope the members of the community will consider joining us in celebrating the holiday season at each of these concerts and support our students’ hard work.
