Huntingdon State Police recently reported a DUI on view drugs occurred on June 28, at 5:09 p.m. along William Penn Highway and River Road in Porter Township. PSP responded to a call for an erratic driver. Upon arrival at the scene, the vehicle was stopped in the middle of the roadway with a 56-year-old male from Huntingdon located in the vehicle. Through investigation, the operator was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The man was transported to Penn Highlands Hospital and consented to a blood draw. Charges to be filed pending blood results.

Huntingdon State Police report their crime and patrol activity for the month of June, 2019. Crime activity shows offenses reported 147, total offenses founded 144, offenses cleared 102, criminal arrests 106 and the number of incidents responded to were 735. Under patrol activity, the report shows the number of crashes 61, number of hit and run crashes 6, number of fatal crashes 2, number of fatalities (number killed) 3, number injured 22, number of traffic citations 403, number of DUI citations 19, number of warning notices issued 494, number of motorist assists 10, number of DUI related crashes 7, number of DUI related fatalities (number killed) 1, number of seatbelt citations 18, number of child seat citations 0.


Logan Township Police report a theft by unlawful taking or disposition occurred on July 5, at 1:31 p.m. at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Altoona. Between May 7, and July 5, 2019, Jamilyn Daley, 19, of Tyrone, unlawfully removed approximately $988 of merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods where she was employed during that time.

Logan Township Police report a domestic, DUI occurred on July 10, at 7:25 a.m. along Bellmead Drive and East Pleasant Valley Blvd. Police report a domestic occurred in a vehicle resulting in the female being dragged through the intersection of Bellmead Drive and East Pleasant Valley Blvd. The defendant was identified as Kevin S. Prough of Altoona. Prough allegedly opened the passenger door of the vehicle and pushed the female occupant out of the vehicle as the vehicle was in motion through the intersection. The female was driven to the hospital by Prough, where officers located both parties. Prough was arrested for DUI, driving with a suspended license/DUI as well as two felony charges of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person. Prough was then transported to Magisterial District Judge Jackson for arraignment.

Logan Township Police report a violation of Logan Township Ordinance, disorderly gathering occurred on July 3, at 11:59 p.m. along Castle Farm Road. Michael J. Berish, 19, of Altoona, was cited for Logan Township ordinance for disorderly gathering for hosting a large party at his Castle Farm residence that caused a public disturbance.
