Logan Township Police were dispatched to a residence along Old Sixth Avenue Road at 2:53 a.m. on Feb. 3. There, officers arrested John Eaken, 45, of Altoona, for firearms not to be carried without a license, prohibited offensive weapons, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Logan Township Police conducted a traffic stop on I-99 on Feb. 15. The driver was identified as Rachel Weigner, 33, of Altoona. Drug paraphernalia was seen beside Weigner in plain view. A search warrant was obtained, and officers discovered drugs and more paraphernalia. Weigner was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Logan Township Police arrested Michael Vaught, 39, of Altoona, at 6:43 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, after receiving reports that he had sold and was planning on selling heroin. After searching Vaught, officers seized heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Vaught was transported to the Blair County Prison, where he will await arraignment on possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Logan Township Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Frankstown Road at 1:10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22. The vehicle fled from officers, resulting in a police pursuit. After finally stopping the suspect, he was identified as Timothy Reffner, 62, of Roaring Spring, and found to be intoxicated. Meth and a pipe were discovered in the vehicle. Reffner was taken to the Blair County Prison for felony fleeing, drugs charges, and summary traffic violations.
State Police at Huntingdon were dispatched to Stone Creek Ridge Road, Henderson Township, at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision. Cody D. Hockenberry, 27, of Huntingdon, was traveling south on Stone Creek Ridge Road when he accidentally hit a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries.
State Police at Hollidaysburg were dispatched to Cove Mountain Road, Taylor Township, at 8:33 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident. Karl S. Alger, 36, of Austin, Texas, was traveling east on Cove Mountain Road when he drove off of the roadway to avoid hitting a line of vehicles and instead struck a utility pole. No injuries were sustained.
State Police at Hiollidaysburg conducted a traffic stop on State Route 22 at 10:14 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, after observing a vehicle that was speeding. The driver was identified as Jeremy Ritchey, 41, of Lilly. He was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol. There was also a two-year-old female and a five-year-old male in the vehicle. Ritchey was charged with DUI.
State Police at Huntingdon were dispatched to Big Valley Pike, Brady Township, at 6:23 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident. Carrie A. Gorba, 44, of Mill Creek, was driving south on Big Valley Pike when her vehicle left the travel lane and hit an embankment. Gorba then lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over and came to a final rest on the driver’s side. No injuries were sustained.
State Police at Huntingdon were dispatched to Colerain Road, Spruce Creek, at 8:39 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident. Shawn W. Yohe, 50, of Dallastown, was traveling east on Colerain Road when his vehicle became stuck on the snow and ice-covered road and he was unable to continue. When he attempted to back down the roadway to turn around, the vehicle slid off of the west shoulder and overturned multiple times before finally stopping against a tree. No injuries were sustained.
