Donna May (Cherry) Hagen, 76, of Tyrone, departed this life on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Epworth Manor. She was born on Sept. 22, 1943 in Tipton, the daughter of the late Donald William and Elizabeth Marie (Williams) Cherry. She was married on Sept. 5, 1964 to Leslie Elwood Hagen in Winchester, VA.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Leslie, who resides at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home; daughters: Colleen Friday of Tyrone, Anissa Michaels of Altoona, and Leslie Sabol and her husband, Brian of Sandy Ridge. There are three grandchildren: Lindara, Colton and Hadlie; and one great-grandchild, Jaxten. Also, brothers: Dale Cherry, Dwayne Cherry and Donald Kissell of Tipton; sisters: Patty Henrichs of Minnesota, Joan Shultz of Texas and Betty Marie McConnell of York Springs, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hagen and brother, Donald "Bill" W. Cherry, Jr.
Donna was raised in Tipton, and was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. She and her husband raised their children in Tyrone. She was a loving wife and mother. She loved to spend time with her family, play the piano and sing, go camping, garden, do ceramics, and was an amazing cook and baker. She enjoyed high school football games and wrestling matches. She had worked at Big Yank Corp., the Dietary Dept. of Epworth Manor, and will truly be remembered for helping raise a lot of children of Tyrone that went to her in home daycare that she had for 18 years. She was always happy, always had a smile on her face and had the biggest heart!
We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will treasure all the memories they made together. Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. The casket will be closed by her request. A Private graveside service will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery on Wed. at 11 a.m. with Pastor Richard McCahan officiating.
