Florean (Troxell) Beck, 93, of Tyrone, died Wed., August 7, 2019 at Graystone Manor, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 8, 1925 at Wilkinsburg, Pa. a daughter of the late Clifford and Hazel (Coy) Troxell. She was married June 1, 1949 to Russell Jacob Beck, who died Jan. 21, 1985.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Geist (Gregory) of Tipton, sons Roger D. (Kim) of Clemmons, S.C., Ronald R. (Betsy) in Tyrone, and a daughter-in-law Janine Beck in Altoona. There are 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Beck, a sister, Merlyn Chappa, and a great grandson Christos Ebert.

She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Tyrone, a graduate of Reade Twp. High School in 1943. After passing a Civil Service Test, she went directly to the Pentagon and worked as a secretary for the WAC Headquarters. She was also a secretary at Grier School for 18 years. She always enjoyed Crossword Puzzles, reading, and Pirate Baseball.

Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the First English Lutheran Church on Sat., Aug. 10, 2019 from 10 a.m. to the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sharon Erb officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. Contributions in Florean’s memory may be offered to the First English Lutheran Church, 17 W. 13th St., Tyrone, Pa. 16686.
