Robert James “Jim” Shaw, 70, of Warriors Mark, died early morning Dec. 6, 2018 at UPMC Altoona.

He was born Oct. 14, 1948 at Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Forrest H. and Gertrude Louise (Weitzel) Shaw. He was married Sept. 12, 1969 to Susan Snyder who survives with eight children, Richard L. Shaw (Joan), Bobby Jo Weaver (Tom), Timothy Shaw (Tami) of Warriors Mark, Bonnie Wiser (Michael) in Tyrone, Jessica Myers (Dennis) and James Shaw of Warriors Mark, Joanne Shaw of Tyrone and Ronald Shaw of Warriors Mark. There are 20 grandchildren and expecting the first great-grandchild. There are six brothers and sisters, Barbara Henry (Frank) of Penna. Furnace, Beverly Riggleman & (David Ewing) in Tyrone, Bonnie Gardner (Timothy) of Trout Run, Pennsylvania, Beatrice Brown (Harold) of Montoursville, Pennsylvania, Alvin Shaw (Susie) of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania, Walter M. Shaw of Trout Run. There are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by brothers, Forrest Ronald Shaw, William Larry Shaw, David Lynn Shaw and Richard W. Shaw Sr.

He was a member of the Spring Mount Church of the Brethren and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War serving on the USS Arlington and the USS Paul Revere from 1967 to 1971. He had been a self-employed carpenter and contractor until a spinal injury in 2003. He always enjoyed hunting and family trips to Canada. He loved his family and was known for his gentle disposition and kindness to everyone.

Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home Inc. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to the 11 a.m. service Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, with Pastor Jeff Glenny officiating. Military Honors by the Tyrone Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
