Timothy A. Friday, Sr., 58, of Tyrone, died Monday, July 8, 2019 at his residence. He was born Oct. 22, 1960 in Tyrone, the son of the late Calvin C. and Janice Mae (Ingram) Friday. He was married Jan. 6, 1989 in Virginia to Bonnie Sue Scott.

He is survived by his wife and sons, Timothy A. Friday, Jr. of Altoona and Brandon Friday in Tyrone, a sister, Lois Sechrist (Jim), and nephew Nathan Sechrist of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by a sister, Victoria, and niece Julie Sechrist.

He was a member of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Osceola Mills and a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1978. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1979 to 1994, serving on the USS Kansas City, then to the Yellowstone AD-41, then to the USS Conyngham, and the USS Normandy, a cruiser & guided missle ship. He received the Humanitarian Service Award for saving 24 Korean people on a row boat. He had worked Security for the Hennaman Agency and worked for the Snyder Twp. and Bellwood Police Dept’s. From 1995 to 2017 he worked for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center at Woodland, Pa. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. and from Noon to the 1 p.m. service on Saturday, July 13, 2019 with Pastor Richard McCahan officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Blair Co. Veterans Honor Guard.
