In the third of four parts of Football Camp Diaries, The Daily Herald talked to Tyrone senior Noah Zimmerman on the start of camp and on the Golden Eagles’ upcoming season.
Q: How has the summer and the first week of camp been going so far?
A: “Ever since we started, even in the winter when we met Coach Franco, we heard it was just going to be pure discipline. That fixes everything that was wrong last year. Up until now, it has been that completely. Discipline, running, every little thing counts.”
Q: Do you prefer offense or defense?
A: “I prefer defense. I’m a middle linebacker. I’m the quarterback of the defense. I’m a running back and I like to see how other running backs play. It’s kind of like a matchup. I like to see it as the running back is usually the linebacker, so it’s head-to-head. I like to take on that challenge of being the better guy on the field.”
Q: What is special about playing in the Backyard Brawl for the last time?
A: “Being it’s my senior season, I just really want to beat Bellwood on their home field. My sophomore year, we lost and it was miserable. We really want to redeem ourselves, and I just want to continue winning.”
