Emilie Leidig has been named The Daily Herald’s Bellwood-Antis Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 8.
Leidig, who also signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Mansfield University last week, helped the Lady Blue Devils to a 4-0 week with eight points against Moshannon Valley, 17 against Portage and Claysburg-Kimmel, and six against Mifflin County.
“This is a kid that’s going to end her career with 1,100 or 1,200 points,” said Bellwood-Antis head coach Jim Swaney. “She’s just a great high school player, and she’s had a great high school career. She’s really done it in the shadow of a few kids. It’s strange to see such a great player go through a career being overlooked like that. I don’t know why that is, but she’s a great kid and a great player.”
