Tyrone’s Nic Light stretches for the ball in a game earlier this season. Tyrone Legion defeated Remax, 9-2, on Wednesday evening.

The same problems in the lineup for the Tyrone Legion Federation League baseball team continued on Wednesday evening, but they took advantage of six errors in a 9-2 victory over Remax at the Harry Sickler Athletic Complex.

Tyrone Legion only collected six hits in the game, but they got five innings of stellar pitching from Bryce Hunter and Nic Light.

Hunter needed just 25 pitches to get through three innings, only allowing two hits in that time while striking out two. Light threw just 15 pitches in two perfect innings.

“We’re still not hitting the ball,” said Tyrone Legion manager Kevin Soellner. “Remax is really young. They’re almost all 15 or 16.

“Nic looks good. I probably should have pitched him more, but we’ll use him more later in the season.”

Tyrone got a couple runners on in the first via the walk against Remax pitcher Joe Saylor, but didn’t crack the scoreboard until the bottom of the second.

After a Ross Gampe single to lead off the frame, Saylor got a strikeout and a fielder’s choice for the first two outs of the inning. But Saylor lost his control from there and walked the next three batters, including a bases loaded free pass to Colson Lewis that scored Zack LeGars.

David Lang then blooped a single into right field to score Blaine Hoover and Hunter, giving Tyrone Legion a 3-0 lead through two innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, Tyrone needed just two hits to score six runs, all of them unearned. Remax committed three errors in the inning.

Lewis clubbed an RBI single in the frame, while Andrew Pearson launched an RBI triple down the right field line. Michael Stoner also knocked in a run on a groundout as Tyrone Legion led 9-0.

Tyrone had an opportunity to end the game via the 10-run rule in both the fifth and sixth innings, but could not get the winning run in on either occasion. They had the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth when Remax secured the third out.

Remax scored its only two runs in the top of the seventh off Pearson, who threw the last two innings. Saylor hit a two-run single down the left field line to score Mitch Luciano and Sebastian Noel.

Tyrone Legion improved to 4-1 on the season. They will travel to Geesey Park this evening for a 5:30 p.m. game with Sheetz.
