Verilla Real Estate advanced to the American Junior Legion district championship game with a 6-2 win over Central on Thursday evening.
Ross Gampe pitched six innings for the win after allowing just two runs on six hits and a walk. Zack LeGars earned his second save of the playoffs by throwing a perfect seventh inning.
Tyrone’s defense came up big on the night as they threw out two runners at the plate.
Nick Lehner had a bases-clearing double in the first inning to help give Tyrone a 4-0 lead. Lehner also added an RBI single in the sixth inning. Luke Brooks, Cortlynd Rhoades, and Gampe also had hits for Verilla Real Estate.
The championship game will be played at Tyrone this evening at 5:30 p.m. against the winner of the loser’s bracket final between Central and State College, which was played on Friday evening.
