SCV Lions to host monthly hootenanny

ONEIDA TWP. — The Stone Creek Valley Lions Club will hold its monthly hootenanny at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Lions Barn on Cold Springs Road. The Lions kitchen will be open at 4:30 p.m. and the meal will be ham, mashed potatoes, green bean, applesauce, cupcake and a drink for $7, with a full menu of other items available.

There is never a charge to attend the hootenanny; however, a jar is put out to collect donations for a local family or individual in need. This month’s recipient is Cathy Holmes.

Cathy, a lifetime resident of McConnellstown and a familiar face at Twice Upon a Time, was diagnosed in March 2022 with Stage 4 colo/rectal cancer. The cancer is treatable but not curable.

Cathy is currently undergoing treatment at Mount Nittany Cancer Treatment Center. As of June 7, Cathy is on her fourth treatment of chemo with subsequent treatments every two weeks. The treatment plan is two hours of chemo at Mount Nittany followed by blood work. Cathy follow up with an additional 46 hours of chemo at home.

Cathy is currently not working and awaiting the status of disability benefits.

Come out to the Lions Club to enjoy good music, food and company and to help a family in need.

The SCV Lions Club is always looking for new members. If you enjoy helping others, talk to any Lions Club member about how you can join.
