An agreement has been recently signed for the purchase of the Huntingdon Country Club. The new company, known as HCC Golf LLC, will be led by John Cook and Morgan Sample, co-presidents.
“My family and I are thrilled to be a part of John Cook’s plan to save the Huntingdon Country Club, and to make it even better,” said Sample.
Cook brought the idea to the Samples late last fall after rumors that it wouldn’t reopen in 2019.
“The Huntingdon Country Club has been an important part of our community for generations,” Cook said. “We are excited to continue its tradition of service and look forward to serving our members, guests and the community.”
The new owners will continue to operate the clubhouse and golf course with plans for improvements to enhance the golfing and social experiences of its members and guests.
“When our community thinks of the Huntingdon Country Club, they recognize it as a traditional country club,” added Sample. “It will not only be a place to play golf, but will offer a social and family experience as well.”
The Huntingdon Country Club will have a new management team. Cook, who is also the publisher of The Daily News, will serve as the general manager and oversee the operations. Sample will serve as the events manager and oversee the banquet and catering services. Bryant Partner will join the management team as the golf course superintendent. Joe Wible will serve as the golf manager and oversee the pro shop and assist with various golf events. And, Penny Barton will serve as the office manager.
A letter was mailed to members last week to announce several new plans for the club and to renew their memberships for the 2019 golf season. Coordinators of events that have been scheduled in 2019 are being contacted to confirm plans and dates. The club will also offer social memberships which will include a variety of benefits.
“Our members and guests will be pleased with our new plans and improvements we have in store for their club,” added Cook.
