Whipple Dam and Greenwood Furnace state parks will host activities Memorial Day weekend.
Join the park naturalist for a morning of family fishing at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at Whipple Dam State Park and at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 28, at Greenwood Furnace State Park. Poles and bait will be provided and no fishing license is required during this program. Whipple Dam participants should meet at the fishing pier near the boat launch, while Greenwood participants should meet near the playground at the beach.
Find out about salamanders of Pennsylvania; where they live, what they eat, what makes them so unique, and where to find them during a Salamander Safari at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at Whipple Dam State Park and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at Greenwood Furnace State Park. The group will head to Laurel Run to catch and identify salamanders and newts. Participants should wear shoes that can get wet. Whipple Dam participants should meet near the boat rental and Greenwood participants should meet at the Blacksmith Shop.
