Assault

PORTER TWP. — William Carolus of Alexandria reported to state police at Huntingdon he was shot at by Shawn Anders, 41, Hesston at 1383 Main St. at 11:45 a.m. Feb. 9. Upon investigation, Anders was taken into custody and charged with the incident in question.

PORTER TWP. — State police at Huntingdon report Matthew Jones, 32, Petersburg, was taken into custody after he threatened to take his girlfriend, a 32-year-old Petersburg woman, from a residence on Hillcrest Lane at 5:46 p.m. Feb. 3, and shoot her. He was taken to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital after he was brought into custody by police.

Harassment

SHIRLEY TWP. — A 30-year-old Mount Union man has been charged with harassment for an incident in which he engaged in a verbal argument with a 30-year-old Mount Union female on Wrangletown Road at 10:56 p.m. Feb. 8 and it escalated into a physical dispute.

Retail theft

SMITHFIELD TWP. — State police at Huntingdon responded to a report of retail theft at Walmart at 11:41 a.m. Feb. 9. Police report they took a 42-year-old Huntingdon male into custody, and it was determined he committed two retail thefts, one Feb. 9 and one Jan. 27. The male was charged for both incidents. In the Jan. 27 incident, he reportedly stole a plush blanket valued at $13.48 and a foam mattress pad valued at $16.94. In the Feb. 9 incident, he reportedly stole a birthday candle valued at $2.75, a carrot cake valued at $19.96 and a gallon of milk valued at $4.28.

Criminal trespass

MOUNT UNION BORO. — State police at Huntingdon report a 59-year-old Mount Union male entered the Puff-N-Snuff outlet on West Shirley Street at 3:07 p.m. Feb. 9 after he was advised multiple times he was not allowed to be in the store. The male also received an official letter banning him from the store.

Criminal mischief

WARRIORS MARK TWP. — A 67-year-old Tyrone man reported to state police at Huntingdon a blue Chevrolet Silverado drove through his field at 4:50 p.m. Feb. 6 and caused damage.

ORBISONIA BORO. — A 67-year-old Orbisonia man told state police at Huntingdon that someone damaged his mailbox on Cromwell Street at 10:18 a.m. Feb. 7.

Drug possession

PORTER TWP. — State police at Huntingdon conducted a traffic stop for a lighting violation at Coddington Lane and Berwick Forge Road at 6:14 p.m. Jan. 27. During the course of the stop, police located multiple items of drug paraphernalia and marijuana inside of the vehicle. Charges are pending against an 18-year-old female and a 16-year-old male, both of Huntingdon, as well as another individual in the vehicle.

DUI

HENDERSON TWP. — State police at Huntingdon conducted a traffic stop at William Penn Highway and Schoolhouse Hollow Road at 1:41 a.m. Feb. 9, and the operator of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Mount Union man, was transported to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital for a blood draw. Charges of DUI are pending blood results.

Burglary

CROMWELL TWP. — William Kerr of Shirleysburg reported to state police at Huntingdon that someone entered his residence at 9908 Colgate Road between 9:30 p.m. Jan. 30 and 1:30 a.m. Jan. 31 by breaking the side door. While inside, the actor(s) removed a pistol, then fled the scene.

Crashes

PORTER TWP. — State police at Huntingdon investigated a one-vehicle crash on William Penn Highway west of Main Street at 4:28 p.m. Feb. 12. A 17-year-old Huntingdon male was operating a 2003 Jeep Liberty west when he went up an embankment and struck a culvert. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to roll onto its driver’s side. The vehicle was disabled. The operator and a passenger, Jarrod Cameron, 18, Huntingdon, were not injured, and both were wearing seat belts.

ONEIDA TWP. — State police at Huntingdon investigated a one-vehicle crash on Standing Stone Road east of Elliot Lane at 2:31 p.m. Tuesday. John Bittikofer, 75, Huntingdon, was operating a 2006 Ford Ranger south when he hit a patch of ice and slush and went into a ditch. After impact, the vehicle became airborne for approximately 10 feet, went down an embankment and struck a tree. Bittikofer was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

CLAY TWP. — State police at Huntingdon investigated a one-vehicle crash on William Penn Highway at 11:28 p.m. Feb. 11. Tyler Scott, 25, Huntingdon, was operating a 2015 Jeep Renegade west when left the road and scraped the guide rail on the northern berm. He then re-entered the roadway, crossed into the opposing lane of traffic and scraped the guide rail on the south berm of the roadway. The driver’s side front tire caught on the guide rail and was torn off the vehicle, and it continued against the guide rail for approximately 25 yards before coming to a final rest against it. Scott was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. He was cited for driving a vehicle at safe speeds.

TAYLOR TWP. — State police at McConnellsburg investigated a one-vehicle crash on Waterfall Road north of Hollow Road at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday. Roseann Shope, 51, Robertsdale, was operating a 2005 Ford Explorer east downhill when she lost control of the vehicle. As a result, she steered to the right to regain control, but the vehicle traveled off the west shoulder, up an embankment and rolled over onto its driver’s side. The vehicle was disabled as a result of the crash. Shope was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. She will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
