MAPLETON BORO. — State police at Huntingdon were dispatched to Main Street at 3:14 p.m. Feb. 3 for a disturbance where a 14-year-old male juvenile from Salix allegedly entered into a physical altercation with three family members, including a 46-year-old Mapleton woman, a 13-year-old juvenile female from Calix, and a 6-year-old juvenile female from Mapleton. The altercation ended when police arrived on the scene. Charges were filed against the 14-year-old male juvenile for harassment.
DECATUR TWP., MIFFLIN CO. — State police at Lewistown investigated a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 522 north south of Franks Lane at 3:51 p.m. Feb. 4. Edward Weaver, 36, Broad Top, was operating a 2008 Toyota Scion XB south when he under compensated for a curve in the roadway, causing the vehicle to travel off the west side in a southbound direction and struck a traffic sign at its 12 o’clock position. After striking the traffic sign, the vehicle continued to travel south, struck a mailbox, then backed out in to the southbound lane of travel and came to a final rest facing east. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Weaver was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. He will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
