At Tuesday’s monthly meeting, Porter Township Supervisor Ron Grove reported he was able to resolve the issue for Warrior Ridge Road residents who received letters from the Huntingdon County 911 Center saying they must change their address because a road in Logan Township has the same name.
The Logan Township road name is Warriors Ridge Road, with an s in Warriors.
“I went into the mapping department and the person in charge there said he wanted a change,” said Grove. “I said, ‘How do you want to change it when all the maps I’ve ever seen that were 200 years old showed that section as Warrior Ridge, not Warriors Ridge?’ It’s always been Warrior Ridge. You go across the Juniata River and start north, then it is Warriors Ridge. That puts the mapping department with a name change they wouldn’t have to add. They agreed. I called the people and told them they do not have to do it.”
Melanie DeArmitt, the resident on Warrior Ridge Road, brought the issue to the supervisors attention last month.
Also Tuesday, it was noted the Barree Stormwater Project to replace a water pipe on Barree Road has yet to get underway in earnest, although it is expected to begin in the near future.
John Claar Excavating has been hired to complete the job.
“They marked off the road with white lines painted there,” said Grove. “He (John Claar) told me that he would call me two days prior to moving in any equipment.”
The 2020 Porter Township budget has been set and is available for public review for the month of December at the Porter Township Municipal Building.
Porter Township’s 2020 reorganization meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6.
