Broad Top Pool League Award presented

The first place Broad Top Area Pool League Competition Award was presented to the Watson Black American Legion Post pool team during a gala dinner held recently in the Legion Post Home at Broad Top City. Normally, the league includes five teams composed of players from the Captain Phillips VFW Post, Saxton; Watson-Black American Legion Post, Broad Top City; Saxton Sportsmen’s Club, former Hopewell Area VFW Post and the Six Mile Run American Legion Post. This year’s winning team initially represented the former Hopewell Area VFW Post which disbanded, making it necessary for the winning team to epitomize the Broad Top City veterans organization (the Six Mile Run American Legion team did not take part in this year’s competition, reported league officials.) Normally, five teams take part in the annual competition which began last October and concluding in February 2019. The winning pool team won the most games in the 2018-2019 season. Accepting this year’s award were, from the left, Ronnie Thomas, Kevin Grace, Jim Steele and Barry Sheeder, all of the Hopewell area. Missing from the photo were Davey Steele and Shane Zeller, both from the Hopewell area.
