John Roth of Huntingdon, a senior majoring in biochemistry at Duquesne University, received the College Chemistry Award presented by the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh during the society’s annual awards dinner May 14.

The award includes a monetary prize and a framed certificate of accomplishment.

The society will also present a monetary award to the Duquesne University Library in Roth’s honor.

Roth is the son of John and Lisa Roth and is a 2015 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School.

During his years of study at Duquense, his accomplishments and achievements included receiving the university’s Excellence in Chemistry award, Biochemistry Award in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and the Deverse Fellowship.

In addition, Roth was an Honors Fellow, served as treasurer for the American Chemical Society and as treasurer for Phi Kappa Theta and was vice president of the Alpha Chi Sigma Professional Chemistry Fraternity.
