Scouts from Troop 28 recently enjoyed their annual “make something you hope will float” activity.

Scouts, parents and friends started at Corbin’s Island and floated to near the Point. It was a great 3.5-4-hour float. Scouts throw in a few squirt guns and snacks and had a great day!

The float was followed by a family picnic at the Corbin’s Island Shelter and court of honor. Scouts welcomed new scout Simon Cressman. Assistant scoutmaster Bryan Rader presented the scouts with their current awards: Mason Taylor earned the following merit badges: insect study, citizenship in the world, movie-making and aviation; Tyler Rader, citizenship in the world, movie-making and aviation; Caden Scott, movie-making; Nathaniel McClain, citizenship in the world and movie-making; Dasan Kristo, citizenship in the world and movie-making; Andrew Heiting, movie-making; and Charlie Watson, movie-making.

Assistant scoutmaster Cindy Smith discussed the troop’s trip to Florida Sea Base next June sailing in the Florida Keys.

Troop 28 was joined on the float by scouts from Troop 24 in Alexandria with their leader Bob Lalli.
