The Huntingdon Presbyterian Church continues its focus on music by African and African American musicians during African American History Month. This week, works by Florence B. Price, Mark Fax and Nigerian composer Godwin Sadoh will be featured. All are welcome to the worship service at 10:30 a.m. preceded by Adult Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.


GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief and loss, will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sundays beginning Sunday, Feb. 10, at First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Is This Normal?,” “The Challenges of Grief,” “Grief and Your Relationships,” “Why?” and “Guilt and Anger.” Meetings will be held at 15 W. Loss of a Spouse

The death of a spouse brings a unique kind of pain. People who are widowed haven’t just lost a loved one — they’ve lost an entire lifestyle. Loss of a Spouse is a two-hour Griefshare help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief and loss upon the death of their spouse. There is a short video followed by small-group discussion. The video features expert Christian counselors, authors, and pastors. The Loss of a Spouse seminar will be offered from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at the First United Methodist Church at 15 W. Shirley St., Mount Union. New Bible class begins

A new class has begun at the Oasis of Love Church. We all have questions about life, God, and wonder what the Bible says. Sorry, we don’t have all the answers but many of these questions can be answered in the Understanding God Class. Various topics are discussed, such as, “Where did the Bible come from?” “Who is God?” and “Do I have a purpose in life?” If you have determined to start the new year on a positive path, then Understanding God Class is for you! Community service

The Cassville United Methodist Church, 30 Maple St., Cassville, will host a community prayer service at 9 a.m. Monday mornings. A lay leader will be on site for anyone who wishes to stop in and offer prayers for family, friends or loved ones in need. Bible study

A ladies’ Bible study will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesdays at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Shade Gap.

Propel Women

All are invited to attend a series hosted by the Oasis of Love Church in the Valley, 2159 Broad Top Mountain Road, Saxton, the third Tuesday of every month from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Join the ladies of the church for an exciting time of fellowship, learning and inspiration to enhance the passion, purpose and potential in every woman. Valentine Luncheon

A Valentine Luncheon will be held at noon Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Oasis of Love Church in the Valley, 2159 Broad Top Mountain Road, Saxton. The event will feature a makeover with Malory Krieger. Come be inspired and informed on hair and beauty care for 2019. We know you will be informed and inspired. Open sanctuary

The First United Methodist Church, located at 15 W. Shirley St., Mount Union, will offer an open sanctuary for the purposes of prayer, meditation and quiet time from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday (weather permitting). All are welcome.

Mill Creek community meal

The Mill Creek United Methodist Church will hold a community meal Wednesday, Feb. 13. This meal is free to community members and friends. Doors open at 4 p.m. Come enjoy the company of friends and neighbors. A spaghetti dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m. If interested, there will be Bible study at 3 p.m.

‘Kingdom Living’ class

Youth program

The Salvation Army, located on Shadyside Avenue, Huntingdon, will host a youth program for children and teens ages Head Start to 12th grade from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Pioneer Kids Club

Kids ages kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend Pioneer Kids Club from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays at McConnellstown Bible Missionary Church, located at 11383 Raystown Road, Huntingdon. Kids will enjoy fun, games, character-building Bible stories, arts and crafts, skills, field trips and snacks. Transportation is available if needed. Call the Rev. Jeff or Donna Rigsby at 627-0218.

Ladies’ Bible study

Senior Coffee Hour

Calling all seniors looking for a refreshing social hour! All are invited to join in for Senior Coffee Hour at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. The event will be an informal, relaxed time to enjoy coffee, goodies and conversation. Coffee Hour is held at 1 p.m. the third Thursday of each month. Whether you come for the coffee, the conversation or both, we’re hopeful you’ll leave glad that you came! Who knows you may just make a new friend or two? Men’s Prayer Breakfast

The Men’s Prayer Breakfast and Fellowship will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at the fellowship hall of the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, Mapleton, R.R. (Hares Valley Road). The fellowship will begin at 8 a.m. and the ladies of the church will host the breakfast. The Rev. Ernie Dell is pastor of the Beech Run Church.
