Anna Kathryn (McIntyre) Burkett passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, in Northport, Alabama, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Six Mile Run, Bedford County. She was united in marriage to William Lynn Burkett May 23, 1959.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Waddell and husband, Jeff, and Jeanette Oelkers and husband, and two grandsons, Luke and Joshua Waddell and wife, Caleigh.
She is also survived by two brothers, John McIntyre and wife, Sally, and Tim McIntyre and wife, Janice, along with her Burkett family, John and wife, Esther, Becky and husband, Philip, Nancy and husband, Joel, and Jim, and a sister-in-law, Helen, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Drexel “Bud” and Grace McIntyre.
Mrs. Burkett was of the Methodist faith.
She was a 1956 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, where she was a cheerleader and class officer. She attended the Altoona School of Commerce in Altoona.
Mrs. Burkett worked for the state Department of Education in Harrisburg.
She was an avid golfer, playing nearly every day, but her greatest passion was being a mom. She reared her two daughters and cared for her grandsons when they were young. After the loss of her husband in 2015, Mrs. Burkett’s golden Retriever, Molly, was always by her side as her faithful companion.
Services will be held after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
