Betty June (Lybarger) Beatty, 87, of Monroeville, and formerly of Petersburg, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Dec. 17, 1931, in Richmond, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice Lybarger. She was united in marriage to Leroy N. “Boots” Beatty Nov. 21, 1951, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Smithsburg, Maryland. Mr. Beatty preceded her in death.
Mrs. Beatty is survived by her two sons, Kevin L. Beatty and Craig S. Beatty; her daughter, Dee Ann L. Lentz; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Irene and Nada, and her brother, John, all of whom resided in Indiana.
Mrs. Beatty was a lifetime member of Crever Memorial United Methodist Church in Petersburg, where she was a church secretary, cook and volunteer.
She was a member of the Juniata Valley Senior Center and volunteered for the election board in Petersburg.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Beatty traveled the United States with her husband to visit family and friends and also visited Guantanomo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. She was an avid reader and never missed a copy of the hometown paper, The Daily News. She loved crafting, doing puzzles, and knitting, including knitting booties for the preemies in the local hospital. Mrs. Beatty collected angels and loved to watch the birds and squirrels out of her window.
A memorial service is being planned for family and friends in the spring at the Crever Memorial United Methodist Church in Petersburg.
It was Mrs. Beatty’s wish that memorial contributions in her memory be made to the Crever Memorial United Methodist Church, 281 King St., Petersburg, PA 16669.
