Carol A. Thorne, 72, of 13019 Blacklog Mountain Road, Mount Union, and formerly of Mapleton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, May 13, 2019, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 25, 1946, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late George Robert and Doris L. (Dell) Ramey. She is survived by her fiancé, Louis Minisci of Blacklog Road.
She is also survived by her son, Peter E. Swanger and wife, Lisa, Mapleton; two grandchildren, Shane Swanger and Derek King and wife, Krista; the children of Louis Minisci, Louie Minisci and wife, Tonya; Joanne Minisci-Seibert; and Lisa Taraborelli; and several grandchildren of Louis.
She is also survived by four siblings, Bob Ramey and wife, Sue, and Georgianna Swanger and husband, Harry, all of Mapleton, LuAnn Arnold and companion, Charlie, Huntingdon, and Lanny Ramey and companion, Sue, Mount Union; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thorne was a 1965 graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union.
She had retired from FCI, Mount Union. Prior to this, she had worked a number of years at Top’s Diner, Mill Creek.
Mrs. Thorne enjoyed gardening and loved to watch wildlife, especially bird and animal watching. She also loved being around her family.
A memorial service will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church, Mapleton, at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, with the Rev. Michelle Price officiating. Interment will be made in the Mapleton IOOF Cemetery, Mapleton.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.
