Catherine H. “Kate” Cissel, 98, formerly of Hesston, died at 9:31 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at AristaCare at Huntingdon Park, Huntingdon.

Born May 8, 1920, in Grafton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel (Hoover) Cissel.

Miss Cissel is survived by her brother, Walter Hess and wife, Joan, of Hesston.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Merle and Max; and four sisters, Eleanor Keller, Margaret Mills, Anna Wible and Peg Bigelow.

Miss Cissel was of the Protestant faith.

She served in the United States Navy.

Upon her discharge from the military, Miss Cissel worked as a nanny for Congressman Richard Simpson in Washington, D.C. She retired from the former Claster’s in Huntingdon, where she had been employed as a secretary.

At her request, private graveside services will be held at the convenience of her family in Valley View Cemetery, Penn Township, with the Rev. Scott Decker officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon.
