Dale Robert Somers Sr., 57, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home in Kingsland, Georgia.
Born Oct. 2, 1961, in Tucson, Arizona, he was a son of the late George and Patricia Somers. He was married to Moreigh “Seana” Somers, who survives in Kingsland, Georgia.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Somers is survived by his daughters, Rachael Allison and husband, Nicholas, Mary-Kathryn Edmiston and Victoria Edmiston-Kessler and husband, Dean, all of Pennsylvania; his sons, Dale Somers Jr. and wife, Sabine, also of Pennsylvania, Robert Somers and wife, Tracy, of Texas, and Ian Moore, who serves in the Air Force in Japan; and 13 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Bernice Torrez and husband, Rafel, and Daniel Somers, all of Oregon; his brothers, Don Somers and wife, Linda, and Dave Somers and wife, Bonnie, all of Arizona, and Dr. Douglas Somers and wife, Sharon, of Iowa.
Mr. Somers served in the United States Air Force from 1980 to 1995.
After his military service, he was employed by Lockheed Martin, where he was a senior missile mechanic for the last 11 years.
To his family and friends, Mr. Somers will be remembered as being best known for being the kind of man who was always ready to go the extra distance to help another person, whether they were a family member, friend, neighbor or even a stranger. Loved ones will remember him as a quiet, kind and gentle giant with a loving and deeply sweet spirit. He was a selfless person, who was truly loved by everyone who knew him.
A memorial service for Mr. Somers was held Jan. 6 at the Friendship Baptist Church in Kingsland, Georgia, with the Rev. Steven Buchholz officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Coastal Camden Funeral Home, 935 E. King Ave., Kingsland, Georgia.
