Drenning obit

Dennis D. Drenning Sr., 67, of Broad Top City, passed away at 10:38 a.m. Nov. 12, 2019, at his home.

Born on Sept. 13, 1952, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late, Glenn and Ann Mae (Jays) Drenning. He was united in marriage to the former Kimberly Rickabaugh Feb. 23, 1974. Mrs. Drenning survives at their home in Broad Top City.

Along with his wife he is survived by a daughter, Tina Perry and companion, James, of East Berlin, two sons, Jason Drenning and companion, Keisha, of Three Springs, and Dennis D. “D.J.” Drenning Jr. and wife, Lainie, of Waterfall; and 12 grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

Also surviving are a brother, David Drenning and wife, Kathy, of Broad Top City, and a sister, Jane Coy and husband, Ed of Wood, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles and two brothers.

Mr. Drenning was a member of the Robertsdale Church of God where he was active in the choir and at one point was a member of God’s Singer Boys.

He served in the U.S. Army for eight years, having received an honorable discharge.

Mr. Drenning was also a member of the RW&BT Volunteer Fire Co., where he drove ambulance and served as chaplain.

He then worked for GA&FC Wagman Bridge Construction until becoming disabled in 1987. He most recently held a position as a security guard at Lake Raystown Resort and Lodge.

Since Feb. 3, 2012, he enjoyed life, thanks to receiving a new heart from his donor Jorge!

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Robertsdale Church of God, with the Rev. Don Evans officiating. Interment will take place in the IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City, with full military honors conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the church from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
