Donald Knable

Donald E. Knable, 79, of 10 Wayne St., Newton Hamilton, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 11, 2019, at his home.

Born May 20, 1939, in Newton Hamilton, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Bertha (Beatty) Knable. His wife, Nancy (McCartney) Knable, whom he married Oct. 21, 1960, in Newton Hamilton, survives at their home.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Knable of Newton Hamilton, and Sherri Brought of Belleville; and Mark Brought of Key West, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley Baker and companion, Dennis Lane, Alex Boozel and wife, Tiffany, Capt. Jordan Brought and wife, Sarabeth, Garath Brought and companion, Haley LeMay, Malachi Brought, and Trace Brought; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Kendall, Konnor, Carson, Jordyn, Kannon and Bowie.

He is also survived by siblings, Robert Knable and wife Doris, McVeytown, Barbara Anderson, Rothsville, and Harold Knable and wife, Nancy, Newton Hamilton.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Florence Wilson, Charles Knable, Linda Keebler, Gloria Sunderland and Lawrence Knable Jr.

Mr. Knable was a member of The Way Bible Church, McVeytown.

He was a lifetime member of the Newton-Wayne Volunteer Fire Co.

He was a 1957 graduate of Captain Jack Joint High School.

Mr. Knable retired from Masland Industries, Lewistown, and was formerly employed by Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union, for 17 years.

He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed hunting, racing and mowing his lawn.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Jerry Wise officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday, until the hour of the service. A fireman’s memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
