Elizabeth ‘Betty’ J. Yoder, 94, of 520 Oneida St., Huntingdon, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at AristaCare Hearthside, State College.
Born Oct. 29, 1924, in Corry, Erie County, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Lucy (Jerome) Bloss. She was united in marriage to Merle Roy Yoder Aug. 30, 1969, in Hollidaysburg. Mr. Yoder preceded her in death Feb. 14, 2006.
Mrs. Yoder is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lee Thomas of Freehold, New Jersey.
She is also survived by a sister, Kathleen Yothers of Longs, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Louise (Bloss) Tantle; a brother, Donald Bloss; and her first husband, Ralph “Bud” Thomas.
Mrs. Yoder was of the Protestant faith.
She had been employed at the former Black’s Jewelry Store, Huntingdon.
During her time at the former Black’s Jewelry Store, Mrs. Yoder developed her skills to make jewelry which she continued to do after her retirement and sold at a stall at the Belleville Sale for a long number of years. She had a pond in her yard and enjoyed it and all of her flower gardening. She was fondly known by the children in her neighborhood and as a good neighbor to all. Mrs. Yoder had lived at her Oneida Street residence since 1971 until her move to the former Meadowview Manor and subsequent move to AristaCare Hearthside, State College.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Art Speck officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery. The grave is located behind the cemetery’s mausoleum.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing and visitation from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Cutright Funeral Homes — Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon.
