Frances P. “Fran” Coffman, 89, Bellmeade died early Friday morning Jan. 4, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
Born Oct. 23, 1929, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Paul F. and Beulah F. (Robb) Beaver. She married Samuel L. Coffman at Trinity Evangelical Reformed Church, McConnellstown, Dec. 5, 1952. Mr. Coffman preceded her in death June 25, 1999.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Ann Mattas and husband, Jim, of State College; a son, Douglas Coffman and wife, Terri, of Altoona; and a grandson, Justin Mattas of Baltimore.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin; and a sister, Jean Householder.
Mrs. Coffman was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood where she served many years as choir director and organist and was also a member of the Philethea Sunday School Class.
She loved music and was an accomplished organist and played for numerous area churches. She was the founder and choir director of the original Bellwood-Antis Community Choir. She also enjoyed flower gardening.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Zitterbart officiating. Interment will be made in the McConnellstown Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Fran’s memory be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
