Frederick Clair Cullen, 80, Mount Union, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, surrounded by his family at UPMC Altoona.
Born Sept. 8, 1939, in Allenport, Mount Union, he was a son of the late Thomas K. and Ruth Pauline (Henry) Cullen.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Helen Holesa; children, Sean Cullen and wife, Nichole, Hummelstown; Shannon Cullen, Harrisburg; and two grandchildren, Aubrey and Brady Cullen.
He is also survived by his brother, Donald “Sonny” Cullen.
He was preceded in death by brother, Patrick Cullen.
Mr. Cullen served his country in the United States Army.
He was a member and regular patron of the Simpson-Hunt American Legion Post 107 in Mount Union.
Mr. Cullen retired from Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked in finance and accounting.
He was an avid sports fan and was particularly fond of Penn State and Pittsburgh athletics. He loved his cars and filling his closet with clothing and shoes.
Due to the recent restrictions placed on funeral homes for conducting visitations and funerals, the family has elected to hold a drive-thru visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday May 26, for those wishing to pay their respects to honor Mr. Cullen’s memory. A private interment will follow at Haven Rest Memorial Cemetery, with Joseph Barrett officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Simpson-Hunt American Legion Post 107, 135 E Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Union, PA 17066.
