Gisela Eleonore Shepps, 91, a resident of Bedford, formerly of Warriors Mark, Shirleysburg and Lancaster, passed away the morning of Dec. 18, 2020.
She was born Oct. 21, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, daughter of the late Bernhard Calow and Freida (Huppman) Calow. She married John William Shepps Sept. 19, 1952, in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. After moving to Pennsylvania, she became a U.S. citizen in 1957.
She is survived by three sons, John Richard, Randolph Edward, David Chester, a daughter, Deborah Ann Sheidy, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John William, a brother, Theodor Kasper, and a son, Ronald Calow.
Mrs. Shepps was an avid sewer, cook, gardener and painter and had her own business, Rainbow Folk Art, from where she sold and taught her painting.
She achieved juried status as a member of the Pennsylvania and Blair County Guild of Craftsmen in folk art, decorative painting, wheat weaving and iconography and had some of her items displayed in the Smithsonian Institute.
A private family burial service will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster.
