Harold E. “Hal” McLaughlin, 57, passed away earlier this week. He was a lifelong Huntingdon resident.
He is survived by his mother Ann S. McLaughlin, Huntingdon, his sister Mary Grace McLaughlin, Pittsburgh, and his sister, Mimi Driscoll and husband Frank, Port Matilda. He is also survived by his niece, Mia McLaughlin, with whom he shared a birthday, his nephew, Jack Driscoll, and Susan Ulrich, his former wife and love of his life.
His father Edward F. McLaughlin preceded him in death.
Mr. McLaughlin was a hospitality manager for most of his career, having spent almost two decades with Sodexo at Juniata College as director of food services and was most recently employed as an associate dining services director at Penn State. His greatest joy was sharing his passion for service with countless staff members who he saw as his extended family.
He loved music and played the drums in several bands since high school. He also loved cooking, motorcycles, airplanes and was an avid history buff of the PA canal system. Most of all, he loved his family, friends and cats. He never met a stranger.
Visitors will be received at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22. The family asks that all visitors wear a mask and adhere to social distancing.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Huntingdon County Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association.
