Irene M. Slawson, 91, formerly of 600 Penn St., Apt. 208, Huntingdon, died at 7:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at AristaCare at Huntingdon Park, Huntingdon.
Born July 25, 1927, in DuBois, Clearfield County, she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Livingston) Thompson. She was united in marriage to Eugene L. Slawson, who preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Slawson is survived by three daughters, Patricia I. Scalia and husband, Mike, Linda K. Slawson and Barbara L. Hook, all of Huntingdon; four grandchildren, Christopher M. Scalia and wife, Kimberly, Kevin Swivel and wife, Regina, Jamie Bryant and Tommie Miller and wife, Cori; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister, Shirley Cable and husband, Ken, Corsica.
She was preceded in death by a son, James E. “Shane” Slawson; a daughter, Katherine Davis; a granddaughter, Heather Scalia-Khan; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Maren Khan and Conner Lee Miller; three sisters; and two brothers.
Mrs. Slawson was of the Protestant faith.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 223 and the VFW auxiliary.
Mrs. Slaswson had been a waitress at the former Motel 22 restaurant and then at the former M&M restaurant for over 40 years.
She loved her children. She enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City. Her family and friends will remember her for being kind and generous to others.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Interment will be made in the Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Stone Creek Ridge, Huntingdon.
In memory of Mrs. Slawson, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntingdon Meals on Wheels program or Grane Hospice of Altoona.
