Jean F. Goodling, 86, of 121 S. Division St., Mount Union, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at the Lewistown Geisinger Hospital.
Born Oct. 12, 1932, in Claysburg, she was the daughter of the late William Ray and Sylvia E. (Kurtz) Hoenstine. She was formerly married to Harold E. Goodling, who preceded her in death in January 1988.
Mrs. Goodling is survived by her children, Cynthia “Cindy” Hobbs and husband, Jim, Connie Flaherty and husband, George, David Goodling and George Goodling and wife, Renée, all of Mount Union; grandchildren, Mark Hobbs and wife, Melissa, George Flaherty and wife, Stacy, Renae Suchan and husband, John, Brock Goodling, Caitlin Flaherty and Brady Goodling; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Abigail, Cecilia, John Luke, Maddox and Seamus.
She is also survived by a sister, Theresa Hicks and husband, Lanny, of Mount Holly Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Wenzel.
Mrs. Goodling was of the Catholic faith.
She was a 1950 graduate of Mount Union High School; and a graduate of the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
Mrs. Goodling was primarily a homemaker, but she had worked as a nurse at the Lewistown Hospital and at various doctor’s offices.
She was an avid baseball fan and especially fond of the Mount Union Trojans. She also enjoyed Boston terriers. Mrs. Goodling’s family and friends will remember her as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Bill Benson officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
