John A. Peachey, 89, Allensville, died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020, at his home.

Born Oct. 28, 1930, in Belleville, Mifflin County, he was the son of Gideon J. and Emma (Algyer) Peachey. He was united in marriage to Martha E. (Byler) Peachey, who preceded him in death April 8, 2007.

Surviving are children, Virginia Renno and husband, Robert, Reedsville, Rose Kauffman and husband, Crist, Allensville, Gideon Peachey and wife, Annette, Mill Creek, and Lowell Peachey and wife, Savilla, Mill Creek, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is Marta Roberts, whom Mr. Peachey and his wife opened their home to as a Fresh Air child when she was 5 years old. She spent summers and holidays with the couple until she came to live with them permanently when she entered 10th grade.

The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Mr. Peachey was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

He was also a member of the Big Valley Men’s Chorus and Mennonite Disaster Service as well as many farmer’s organizations.

He was a dairy farmer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Allensville Mennonite Church with Pastors Nelson Roth, Gerald Peachey, Sherman Stoltzfus and Bob Zook officiating. Interment will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the church.
