Joseph Eugene Myers Sr., 73, of Tyrone, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at his residence after an accident working on an automobile.

Born Dec. 2, 1945, in Altoona, Blair County, he was a son of the late Paul Samuel and Pauline J. (Gray) Myers. He was married March 21, 1967, to Linda Mae Goss, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Wendy McCartney of Brisbin, a son Joseph E. Myers Jr. of Tyrone, two grandchildren, Sierra Gold and husband, Nicholas, in the Navy in Virginia, and Zachary Robert McCartney in Tyrone; and two great-grandchildren, Brylee Gold and Danny Gold.

A sister, Sharon L. McCaulley of Tyrone, also survives.

He was preceded in death by a son William Myers, two brothers, five sisters and a brother-in-law, Gary D. McCaulley, Sr.

Mr. Myers attended the Tyrone Alliance Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Myers was a member of VFW Post 4559 and the Hookies Fire Co.

He was a 1963 graduate of Tyrone Area High School.

Mr. Myers had worked as a line operator for Pittsburgh Plate Glass for 40 years.

He always enjoyed traveling with his family, fishing and hunting and gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, with the Rev. Carl A. Schmidt Sr. officiating. Interment will be made in Blair Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the Tyrone Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, until the hour of services.
