Judy K. Slates, 63, of Waterfall Road, Three Springs, passed peacefully Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at UPMC Pinnacle, Harrisburg, after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 10, 1955, at McConnellsburg, she was a daughter of the late David Sr. and Phyllis (Hamman) Slates.
She is survived by two children, Sam Clippinger and wife, Julie, and Bobbilynn Clippinger and husband, Dan Scalf, all of Three Springs; three stepchildren, Antonio Oppido and wife, Justina, of Mount Joy, Angela Foutz and husband, Ryan, of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Nicole Oppido of Odenton, Maryland; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two siblings, Joyce “Cookie” Zeveney and husband, David, of Nanticoke, and David Slates Jr. and wife, Marcia, of Shirleysburg.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Fish.
Ms. Slates was the owner/operator of the family business, Slates Salvage, Waterfall Road, Three Springs.
She was a lover of all animals. She was a “fur momma” to four schnauzers, Max, Milo, Matti and Minnie, along with Tater the cat.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Cherry Grove Cemetery, Three Springs, R.R., with the Rev. Joyce “Cookie” Zeveney officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
