Laura A. Brown, 72, of 13081 Middle Ridge Road, Hesston, died at 10:13 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at UPMC Altoona.

Born Sept. 30, 1947, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late Mary Evelyn (Rothrock) Lopez.

She is survived by five children, Gina Swope and husband, Tracy, Hesston, Nicole Helsel and husband, Scott, Mill Creek, Katrina Price, Shippensburg, Sabrina Broome, Chambersburg, and Michael Brown Jr., Hesston; 13 grandchildren, Quaid Helsel, Ranger Helsel, Marissa Wagner, Kacia Zoerner, Daven Greenland, Riley Price, Kyla Price, Autumn Swope, Colyn Failor, Quentin Broome, Ethan Failor, Kaden Broome and Kiowa Brown; and two great-grandchidren, Klaire Greenland and Finley Wagner (due in June).

Two sisters, Carin Hamilton and husband, Jack, of Fallen Timber and Cheryl Shaffer of Maryland, also survive.

Ms. Brown was of the Methodist faith.

She graduated from Wheaton High School in Maryland.

Loved ones will recall that family was everything to Ms. Brown. She loved spending time with and participating in family functions. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joy. She loved shopping and it didn’t matter if she bought anything. She also enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. She will be remembered for her laughter and love of life.

Ms. Brown had lived at her current address for 13 years. She spent a majority of her life in Huntingdon, but her family moved often due to the military.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held at Cutright Funeral Homes —Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon, from 6-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. There will be a celebration service at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Scott Helsel. Interment will be private.
