Lester James McCartney, 57, of 10233 Deer Acre Drive, Huntingdon, Brady Township, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at UPMC Altoona.
Born Feb. 1, 1962, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Joe Crotsley and Genevieve McCartney. He was united in marriage to the former Jody Pecht Sept. 3, 1983, at the 12th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Ashley Horner. Mrs. McCartney survives at their residence.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McCartney is survived by his three children, Joseph McCartney and wife, Jennifer, Petersburg, Harleigh McCartney of Huntingdon and Presley McCartney and fiancé, Ryan Rourke, Three Springs; and four grandchildren, Owen McCartney, Madysen McCartney, Bryson McCartney and Payson Taylor.
He is also survived by six siblings, John McCartney of Willow Hill, Robert McCartney of State College, Melvin McCartney of Calvin, David McCartney and wife, Shirley, of Chambersburg, Terry McCartney and wife, Deanna, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Donna Krape and husband, Bill, of Gettysburg.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Robin McCartney, Joyce Crotsley, Sue McCartney, Steve McCartney and Barry McCartney.
Mr. McCartney was a member of the Free Methodist Church, formerly of Huntingdon.
He was a 1980 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School.
Mr McCartney retired in March 2013 after working for over 20 years as a truck driver/mechanic for Marks Bros., Huntingdon.
A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, he had resided at his current address for the past 24 years. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at the Cutright Funeral Homes — Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Joan Houck officiating. Interment will be made privately.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday, June 13.
