Loretta A. Varner, 83, of 186 Greenbriar Crossover, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord and joined her loving husband, Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at her home.
Born Dec. 24, 1935, in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Beulah (Collins) Fritsch. She was united in marriage to Luther A. Varner May 22, 1954. Mr. Varner preceded her in death Feb. 12, 2017.
Mrs. Varner is survived by her children, Luther A. Varner Jr. and wife, Judy, Linda A. Varner, Leona A. Peck and husband, Timothy, Lawrence A. “Dutch” Varner and Leroy A. Varner Sr. and companion, Tracie Holder, all of McVeytown; grandchildren, Loretta Maben and husband, Robert III, Sarah Varner, James Peck and wife, Amanda, Wayne Peck and wife, Penny, Daniel Peck and wife, Elizabeth, Leroy Varner Jr. and wife, Stacy, Randy Varner and wife, Danyle, and Shawn Varner and wife, Alicia; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford H. Fritsch; and a sister, Doris Rees.
Mrs. Varner graduated from high school in Trenton, New Jersey.
She loved flowers and working outside in the garden. Mrs. Varner loved spending time with her grandchildren and will be remembered for her welcoming spirit at her home.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Sam Peck, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Feb. 7, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
