Mary J. Hoffman-May, 93, of Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

Born Jan. 7, 1928 in Somerset, Somerset County, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Louise (Arcq) Chancy. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Hoffman June 29, 1946, in Lewistown. Mr. Hoffman preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1983, after 37 years of marriage.

She is survived by two children, Terri Smith, Alexandria, and Dr. Thomas Hoffman, Clearfield, grandchildren, Mary Ellen Helm and husband, Gregory, Fredericksburg, Thomas Hoffman and fiancée, Kimberly Smiley, Greenville, North Carolina, Krystal Wriglesworth and Leif Hoffman, both of Clearfield, and Brandon Smith, York; and great-grandchildren, Trevor and Josiah Helm, Fredericksburg, and Eden A. Smith, Marklesburg.

She is also survived by a sister, Gloria Steele of Huntingdon.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Hoffman-May was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church, Huntingdon.

She was a graduate of Robertsdale High School and was primarily a homemaker.

Mrs. Hoffman-May was very dedicated to her family and was proud of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music.

A private memorial service will be handled at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Ted Hughes officiating. A public memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
