Miriam R. Wiser, 79, of 14076 Wrangletown Road, Mount Union, went to be with the Lord at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Her death was unexpected.

Born Aug. 20, 1939, in Clay Township, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Clarabelle (Horn) Slates. She was united in marriage to Ronald L. Wiser, who preceded her in death May 7, 2009.

Mrs. Wiser is survived by three children, Glenn O. Wiser and wife, Jeanette, Erie, and Penny Wise and LeeAnn Bookwalter and husband, Michael, all of Allenport, Mount Union; four grandchildren, Codie Miller, Annamarie Banks, Carrie Wiser and Heather Lavery; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Edith James, Tyrone, and Clarabelle Miller and husband, Carl, Waynesboro.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Bookwalter, and seven siblings, Samuel, David, Charles and Paul Slates, Louella Shore, Thelma Snyder and Lois Jean Slates.

Mrs. Wiser had attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Mount Union.

She had former employment with L. Greif Bros. Mfg., US Sports, Creitz Bologna Factory and McDonald’s.

Mrs. Wiser loved to bake. Her family will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

It was Mrs. Wiser’s request that there be no public viewing or visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.
