Richard Donald Swan, 86, Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, at Penn Highlands Huntingdon, after a brief illness.
Born May 19, 1934, in Porter Township, he was a son of the late Ralph Swan and Edna Spacht Swan. He was united in marriage to the former Doris Meshyock in 1954.
He is survived by his daughter, Delta States and husband Chad, Huntingdon, granddaughter, Emily States and stepgrandchildren, Erin and Ryan States.
A sister, Barbara Smith, Newark, Delaware, also survives.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, James and Thomas, and sisters, Patricia Black and Marjorie Cowan.
Mr. Swan was an engineer with the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 where he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
He was employed as auto mechanic at Sears Automotive in Burnham for 26 years before his retirement in 1996.
Mr. Swan was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed working on cars and tinkering in his garage. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Emily, and sharing his sweet treats with her. He also enjoyed the company of his dear friend, Joe Norris. He was very appreciative of his neighbors and their many kind gestures over the years. Family and friends will remember him as a wonderful father and one of the most kindhearted people one would ever meet.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, 515 Sixth St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Donna Jarrell officiating.
