Robert "Jake" McCartney

Robert Eldon “Jake” McCartney III, 68, of Six Mile Run, passed away at his residence Wednesday, May 15, 2019, as a result of a farming accident.

Born in Altoona, Blair County, Feb. 4, 1951, he was a son of the late Robert E. Jr. and Dorothy B. (Burket) McCartney. He was united in marriage to the former Karen M. Zelanko, who survives at their home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. McCartney is also survived by daughters, Crystal Macom and husband, Jamie, Nika Wilt and husband, Clete, Erin McCartney and Tahni Hall; sons, Robert E. McCartney IV, Jacob D. McCartney, William “Andrew” McCartney and Joseph Isaac McCartney; and granddaughters, Annie Macom and Makena Hall.

He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Pearce, Mary Lou Argabright and husband, Pete, and Amy Zwayer and husband, Ken.

Mr. McCartney was a 1969 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and retired as a superintendent from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 37 and one-half years of service.

He enjoyed working outside, reading and vacationing in Cancun Mexico.

A memorial service will be held by the family at the Robertsdale Church of God in Robertsdale, at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, with the Rev. Don Evans officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the donors’ local chapter of the Salvation Army.
